Venue & Accessibility

We are delighted to be hosting ConsGen22 at the University of Edinburgh’s John McIntyre Conference Centre. These state-of-the art facilities are situated at the foot of Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh’s iconic extinct volcano, and Holyrood Park. Both the University of Edinburgh and the venue are committed to sustainability, and we strive to minimise the environmental impact of ConsGen22.

Accessibility

ConsGen22 supports equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) values and strives to be a welcoming and diverse conference, where all contributions from all participants from a broad community of conservation geneticists and conservation practitioners will be encouraged and valued.

In line with our EDI values, we, therefore, aim to make the conference accessible to potential delegates with a range of requirements. Below we have outlined some aspects of the conference that would facilitate participation to and during the event:

Accessibility at the venue, the John McIntyre Conference Centre: A full an access guide to the venue can be viewed at https://www.accessable.co.uk/venues/john-mcintyre-conference-centre.

Childcare: A small, family-friendly room will be available at the venue, although we request that you inform us in advance so we can discuss catering arrangements and any needs you may have. Please note that children cannot be left unattended, but we can make arrangements with you if you wish to bring along a non-participating adult carer. If you would need full provision of childcare to be able to attend, please get in touch. Additionally, we have a quiet, private room that can be used by breastfeeding mothers.

Financial support: For those who are finding it difficult to access funds to register or attend the conference, please get in touch (Edinburgh22@consgen.org) for an application form to request financial support. We will review requests and allocate any funds we have.

Quiet room: For those who require a quiet space to relax, pray or meditate during the conference.

If you have any enquiries regarding accessibility to the conference that are limiting your ability to attend, please get in touch by emailing the organising committee on Edinburgh22@consgen.org.
